Activating the discount code field on the checkout in Plug&Pay

Written by Rens van Hout

In this article, you'll learn how to activate the discount code field on your checkout in Plug&Pay, so that customers can enter a discount code upon paying. Haven't created a discount code yet? Then first read the article Creating and setting up a discount code.

Allowing a discount code

To give customers the option to enter a discount code, navigate to the settings of your checkout and go to Content > Fields > Order. Tick the Allow discount codes option there and save your changes.

Under Content settings, go to Fields and check the allow discount codes box in plug&pay

A field then appears on the checkout in which customers can enter a discount code.

Applying a discount code automatically via URL

You can also have a discount code applied automatically without the discount code field being visible on the checkout. This is useful if you don't want other customers to see that a discount code is available, but you still want to give a specific group of customers a discount.

To do this, add ?discount_code= to the end of the URL of your checkout, followed by the discount code. In the example below, the SUMMERSALE discount code has been applied.

https://yourbusiness.plugandpay.com/checkout/your-product?discount_code=SUMMERSALE

Send this link to the customers who are receiving the discount. The discount code will then be applied automatically at checkout. You can keep the discount code field hidden on the checkout.
