Reversing VAT afterwards for a subscription

Reverse VAT on an ongoing subscription via the subscription settings in Plug&Pay

In this article, you'll learn how to still process VAT for a subscription where VAT wasn't automatically reverse-charged. You can read how to set up VAT reverse charge by default in Plug&Pay in the article Managing VAT settings.

ℹ️ Plug&Pay validates VAT IDs via VIES. If a VAT ID is invalid there, the VAT can't be reverse-charged.


Reverse-charging VAT afterwards

For an existing subscription, you can reverse the VAT for the next direct debit. This does not apply retroactively to previous invoices. To do this, first add the customer's VAT ID to the subscription. You do this by navigating to the subscription, where you click on the pen icon within Customer data.

Add the customer's VAT ID here and save your changes.

Next, select the pen icon within Subscription to adjust the subscription.

Within Customise subscription, select the Reverse VAT option under VAT. Save your changes using the Save button. The VAT will be automatically reversed starting from the next direct debit.
