One of the most effective ways to boost conversions is by creating a sense of scarcity. Scarcity in the number of hours left to claim a particular offer, for example, creates a sense of urgency in your visitor, making them more likely to take advantage of an action.

With Plug&Pay, you can capitalise on this by setting a countdown on your checkouts. Your visitors will see the number of days or hours running down by themselves. Perfect for when you have a temporary promotion running ⏳

Adding a countdown to your checkout page

You set the countdown on your checkout page.
Navigate to Content > Sales boosters > Countdown and enable the countdown.

Choose between two types of actions:

  • Countdown to date

  • Countdown from the first visit

Countdown to date

This is a general countdown that is equal to all your visitors.
Set the date and time for the deadline. The time zone adopts what is set in Settings > Shop features.

Enter a redirect URL - this is the URL your visitor will be redirected to after 5 seconds, when they land on the expired checkout page. If you do not set a redirect URL, the checkout will remain active after the deadline has passed.

💡Tip: refer your visitors to a different checkout page, like the version without a promotional discount for example

Change the additional text if necessary. This text is displayed next to your countdown.

❗️Do not forget to save your changes!

After you save the countdown, a timer will appear at the top of your checkout page. The appearance of the countdown depends on which template you have chosen for your checkout.

Countdown from first visit (evergreen)

This countdown is unique for each visitor, and counts down from the first moment your visitor opens your checkout. This way, you can personalise your sales even better!

Set the number of hours and/or minutes, and choose the action to happen after the countdown expires. If necessary, change the additional text. This text is displayed next to your countdown.

ℹ️ You can set the evergreen countdown for up to 48 hours
