Building payment pages and sales funnels without technical knowledge

In this guide you'll learn what Plug&Pay is and how the platform is built up. You'll discover the different building blocks and how they come together to form a sales funnel.


Plug&Pay in a nutshell

Plug&Pay is a platform for building checkouts and complete sales funnels. A sales funnel is the route a visitor takes from your sales page through to the purchase. On top of your sales funnel, you can also build a full website in Plug&Pay, including a homepage, contact page and more. No technical knowledge required: you build everything in Plug&Pay yourself.

The building blocks

A sales funnel in Plug&Pay consists of a number of core building blocks. You don't need to use all of them; which ones you need depends on how your funnel is set up.

  • Product: The foundation of everything. You create a product with a name, price and payment type (one-time or subscription). You link your checkout to a product.

  • Checkout: The page where a customer pays. This is the minimum you need to sell something through Plug&Pay.

  • Landing page: A sales page you place before the checkout. This is where you convince the visitor before they check out.

  • Order bump: An extra offer shown on the checkout just before the purchase, to increase the order value.

  • Sales boosters: Widgets on your checkout that encourage visitors to complete their purchase, such as a timer, testimonials or a progress bar.

  • Upsell en downsell: An offer shown after the purchase, before the confirmation page. An upsell is a higher-priced offer, a downsell a cheaper alternative if the customer declines the upsell.

  • Confirmation page: The page a customer sees after a successful payment.


Sales funnel explained

Every funnel starts small. Below you'll see what a sales funnel looks like at each level, from the simplest setup to a complete sales funnel. Start at level 1 and read on as far as relevant to your situation.

Level 1: The basics

The simplest setup consists of one product, a checkout and a confirmation page. This is all you need to receive your first payment.

Level 2: With landing page

You add a landing page before the checkout. Visitors land on your sales page first, read your offer and then click through to the checkout. This works well when your product needs some explanation before someone is ready to buy.

Level 3: With sales boosters

On your checkout, you have two ways to get more out of every visitor. Sales boosters, such as a timer, testimonials or a progress bar, encourage visitors to complete their purchase. An order bump lets you add an extra offer the customer can add just before checkout. Both are optional and visible on the checkout itself, with no extra steps for the customer.

Level 4: Complete funnel

The most complete setup: after the checkout, Plug&Pay automatically shows an upsell. If the customer declines, you can show a downsell as a cheaper alternative. The confirmation page follows after.

Collecting leads with Plug&Pay

Plug&Pay can also be used before your sales funnel, to collect leads. Think of an opt-in page where visitors leave their email address in exchange for a freebie, such as a free e-book or training. This lets you build a list of interested prospects to send to your sales funnel later.
