On average, only 2% of your visitors are willing to make a purchase on their very first visit to your website. That's why it's important to collect your visitors' details so you can build a relationship with them, helping them become a paying customer!

One of the best and easiest ways to do this within Plug&Pay is through an opt-in page.

What is an opt-in page?

On an opt-in page, someone gives permission to receive specific information - such as updates or offers - via their provided email address. This is filled in via a form. The opt-in is often used for giveaways. Offering a giveaway (a free product) is the ideal way to grow your mailing list and to introduce people to you, your business, and your products / services.

With Plug&Pay you can generate a complete opt-in funnel within one minute; including opt-in page, form, and thank-you page!

What does a form and opt-in page look like?

An opt-in is the ability to fill in a name and email address and automatically forward this to a mailing list. The lower this threshold, the more inclined the visitor is to leave their details. That's why a Plug&Pay form only asks for the first name and email address by default.

Flow of an e-book or free giveaway

The flow of an e-book or free giveaway goes (often) as follows:

  1. Your visitor arrives on the opt-in page of your free giveaway;

  2. The user fills in their details in your opt-in form;

  3. The user lands on a thank-you page;

  4. The user receives an email containing a download link;

  5. The user goes via the link in the email to the page with the download and receives the relevant free giveaway there.

Creating a download page

Step 1: Creating the landing page

The first step here is of course to create a landing page. Under the Thank you page type you'll find this template:

You can also start with a blank page and design it yourself.

Step 2: Setting up the button

The most important element needed on your download page is a button. In the template above a button has already been added. If your page doesn't have a button yet, add one first.

Click on the button and change the type to Download file. Select the file from your media library, or upload your file if you haven't done so yet.

❗Directly downloading a file from Plug&Pay is only possible if you are using a PDF, Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file.

When someone then clicks the download button on your landing page, the file will be downloaded immediately!

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How does someone reach the download page?

Your visitor of course needs to be able to find the download page in order to download the requested giveaway!

Do you send the Plug&Pay confirmation email?

Via the settings of the Plug&Pay form you can add a link to the download page. When a visitor fills in the opt-in form, they will receive an email from Plug&Pay with a button to the download page.

Do you send the confirmation email yourself?

Then make sure you add the URL of your download page to the content of the email yourself via your email marketing software.

Can I also email the download?

Yes, you can! Via the settings of your Plug&Pay form you can choose to have Plug&Pay automatically send an email. Upload your file to automatically add it as an attachment to this confirmation email.
