In this article, you'll read how to set up the commissions your affiliates earn. You'll set a default commission, override it where needed per product or form, and decide whether affiliates keep earning commission on subscriptions.

Payment profile
You always set up commissions within a profile. Every affiliate is linked to a profile; by default that's the Default profile. If you want to pay different affiliates different commissions, you create additional profiles.
Setting the cookie lifespan
Navigate to Affiliates > Settings > Profiles and select the profile you want to configure. This is where you set the default commission (as a percentage or amount) that applies to your products and forms, and the cookie lifespan.
Under Cookie lifespan, you decide how long a commission can still be awarded after someone clicks the affiliate link. A lifespan of 60 days means the affiliate can still earn commission for 60 days after the last click on a unique affiliate link.
ℹ️ The cookie is what lets Plug&Pay track whether an order came in via an affiliate link.
Setting the default commission
Under the Commissions block, you set the commission your affiliates will receive. The default commission applies to all your products and forms. Use the toggle in the top right to switch between products and forms.
The default commission is applied evenly across every product and form you've created in Plug&Pay. You can override this default per product or per form.
💡 Tip: if you only pay commission on a small number of products or forms, set the default to 0.
Setting deviating commissions
Want to move away from the default commission? You can do that at product and form level: for each product or form, you decide the percentage or the fixed amount.
Use the 
-icon to make the commission recurring.
Use the 
-icon to decide whether a product shows up in your affiliates' dashboard. This is separate from the commission: hiding a product from the dashboard doesn't affect whether the affiliate earns commission on it.
❗ Don't forget to save your changes after adjusting the settings.
Recurring commissions
Do you sell products as a subscription or through instalments? You can keep paying your affiliate commission on every follow-up direct debit. There are two ways to set this up:
Switch on Make commission recurring by default to apply it across the whole profile.
Or set it per product using the
-icon. You can use this on its own, regardless of the default setting.
Optionally, you can set a maximum duration. In the example below, the commission is only paid out recurring for the first 3 months or years.
