What to do when someone cancels? In this article you can read exactly which steps you need to take to correctly cancel a subscription.

Can a customer cancel the subscription themselves?

A customer can only cancel their subscription themselves if you have activated the Customer portal. Managing subscriptions by your customers is only possible with the Ultimate subscription, or when you are using the Huddle plugin.

Cancelling via Huddle

Are you selling a subscription with access via Huddle? Then you can connect Plug&Pay and Huddle together, so that your Huddle members can view and possibly cancel their subscription. You can read more about that connection here.

What should I do when a customer wants to cancel?

To process a cancellation yourself, first go to Sales > Subscriptions > The relevant subscription.

You will now see a screen with all the subscription settings. To change the status of a subscription, navigate to Actions > Change status:

You will see three statuses:

  • Active: The subscription is active. You will also see the next direct debit date. This is the date when the direct debit will be executed. You can change the date so the direct debit falls on a different day.

  • Cancelled: Here you can select an end date on which the subscription should expire. You can also set that no more direct debits should be executed until that specific date.

  • Ended: Here you can immediately cancel a subscription and provide a reason for cancellation.

You also have the option here to adjust the Next direct debit date, or to extend the subscription with Give extra month.

Connecting with Huddle

Are you working with Huddle? In Plug&Pay you can easily automate that the customer's account no longer has access to your products in Huddle after cancellation. You can read more about that connection here.
