By default, your Plug&Pay account runs on a subdomain of ours (for example: yourcompany.plugandpay.com).
You can also run Plug&Pay on your own (sub)domain. To do this, you need to update the DNS settings of your domain name.
Setting up a custom (sub)domain is part of Plug&Pay Premium & Ultimate. Are you using Plug&Pay Lite? Upgrade to Premium or Ultimate to use this feature.
1. Choose the Desired Domain Name
Plug&Pay can be placed on either a primary domain or a subdomain.
For example:
Primary domain =
plugandpay.nlSubdomain =
start.plugandpay.nl
Do you already have your own website and want to keep using it? You cannot place Plug&Pay on the same domain name. In that case, it is recommended to use a subdomain.
Do you not yet have your own website? You can create your website, including a homepage, with Plug&Pay and connect a primary domain. From your homepage you can then link to other landing pages and payment pages.
ℹ️ You do not need separate website hosting from your domain provider. That saves you some costs!
2. Enter the Desired Domain Name
In Plug&Pay, navigate via Settings to Domain Name.
Here you can connect a domain yourself.
Enter your desired (sub)domain name and click Save.
3. Update the DNS Records at Your Domain Provider
Once you have saved your (sub)domain name, the DNS records will be shown that you need to add at your domain provider.
Your domain provider is where your domain name is registered.
If there are existing DNS records that need to be deleted, those will also be shown.
For a primary domain, you need to add 4 records and optionally delete existing records.
For a subdomain, you need to add 2 records.
For specific instructions per domain provider, refer to our other article:
❗️ Please note: the records shown in the screenshot above are for illustrative purposes. The records you need to enter at your domain provider may differ. Always check the records shown in your Plug&Pay admin environment to ensure you apply the correct settings at your domain provider.
4. Activate the Domain Name
For the final step, navigate back to the domain name settings in Plug&Pay.
If the DNS records have been added correctly at your domain provider, it may take up to 24 hours before your domain name can be activated.
Once everything has been processed correctly, all DNS records in Plug&Pay will show as verified. A toggle will then appear that allows you to activate your (sub)domain.
Do not forget to save.
ℹ️ Even if all records show as verified, it may still take up to 24 hours before the toggle appears.
