A direct integration between Plug&Pay and ActiveCampaign/MailBlue allows you to add your customers to your email system entirely automatically! For example, you can:
Ensure that a customer automatically receives all information by email after purchasing a product
Ensure that a customer no longer receives emails about a subscription after cancelling it
Ensure that you always have an up-to-date overview of your customers in ActiveCampaign/MailBlue using tags and lists
Sounds good, right? Let's get started setting this up :-)
1. Go to Plug&Pay Plugins
ActiveCampaign/MailBlue is a plugin in Plug&Pay that you can activate separately. You can find the plugins in the settings under Integrations & Plugins.
You will see the available plugins for your Plug&Pay here. Go to the ActiveCampaign - MailBlue plugin and click Create Integration.
2. Enter the API Credentials
Once you have clicked 'Connect', a screen will open where you need to enter your API credentials from ActiveCampaign/MailBlue. In ActiveCampaign/MailBlue you can find these under Settings (gear icon) and then Developer (or Developer if your environment is in English).
Enter this URL and key in Plug&Pay and click Save. If the credentials are correct, you will receive a confirmation that your ActiveCampaign has been connected.
3. Setting Up an Integration per Product
Per product you now have the option to configure which actions should take place in MailBlue. You can find these options in the product settings under Integrations.
Executing Actions for Different Events
Here you can add a rule. This determines which actions are triggered in ActiveCampaign. When you click Add Rule, a pop-up will open:
Add a name for your rule
Set the 'Invoice created' or 'Order paid' trigger
Action: select ActiveCampaign and determine the action Below I will explain which actions are available and what you can do.
In step 3 you need to select an action. You can choose between:
Add to list: add a contact to a list
Remove from list: remove a contact from the list
Add tag: assign a tag to your contact
Remove tag: remove the tag from your contact
Set field: select a custom field you have created in MB/AC
Add automation: add a contact directly to an automation
Remove automation: remove a contact from the automation
In the screenshot below I have, for example, chosen "Set field" and then selected the custom field 'amount' from my ActiveCampaign. I then clicked on the 'invoice number' block. Under the value you will now see [invoice_nr]. This means that with every order, the customer's invoice number is saved in my custom field in ActiveCampaign.
Once you save, the rules you have configured are shown in the overview.
In the example above, the customer is added to the list 'List: Freebie' upon a new order. The contact receives the tag ': One-time product'. In addition, the custom field 'Invoice number' is filled with the customer's invoice number from Plug&Pay. Finally, the contact is added to the automation 'Automation 2'.
That was fairly straightforward, right? π
4. Setting Up an Integration for a Payment Page (Optional)
Do you want to give your customers the option to sign up for your newsletter? You have the option to add extra rules to a payment page, so that an extra checkbox appears for the newsletter opt-in.
You can find this under Pages > Payment Pages > Payment Page > Content > Fields.
On the payment page you can add an option for people to indicate whether they want to receive more emails from you. If they agree, the rules will be executed!
In the screenshot above I have set up an extra checkbox on my payment page: 'Do you want to stay informed about new offers?'. If people check this, they are subscribed to my list 'Newsletter list'.
The rules you have configured for products are always executed; the rules you have configured for the payment page are only executed if customers agree.
βοΈ Please note: It is not permitted to mandatorily sign up customers for a newsletter. Using the method above, you can give customers the option to sign up voluntarily.
5. Setting Up a Universal Integration (Optional)
Within Plug&Pay you can also add a universal integration. With a universal integration, a rule is executed for every purchased product, every submitted form, or every accepted affiliate.
Go to Settings > Integrations and create a new rule here. Give your rule a name, choose your trigger, and then select MailBlue/ActiveCampaign to determine exactly what should happen.
Enjoy setting up your automations π€©
You can make it as extensive as you like. From just one email after a purchase, to full automations. With these settings you have all the options you need.
