The checkout page is the core of your Plug&Pay website 🀩
This article covers everything you need to know to create a checkout page for your product.

Have you already created a product?

Before you can set up a checkout page, you first need to create a product. If you haven't done this yet, please read our step-by-step article on creating a product here.

When creating a product, you can also generate a corresponding checkout page.

Creating a checkout page

To create a new checkout page, go to Pages > Checkouts.

Using the Create Checkout button, you can start setting up a new checkout page.

Enter the name and select the product you want to use this checkout for. It is also possible to have your checkout generated by AI! Choose the tone: formal or informal and write a product description. Don't want to use AI? Then turn the slider off.

Edit checkout page

After creating your checkout page, it's time to complete it.

You will immediately see several tabs with more settings: General, Content, Advanced, Upsells and Integrations.

I recommend you start with the settings at General and Content: these are the most important parts. Once you have completed these settings, you will have a live checkout! You can look at the other settings later.

General

Under General , you can change the name and URL of the checkout page, set up a confirmation page and change the theme.

πŸ”— URL

The URL is the URL of your checkout that you can share and place on your website or landing pages. For this, you can click the copy icon:

πŸ“„ Confirmation page

You will also see the field for Confirmation page here . The default is Plug&Pay's default Confirmation page. If you want to use your own page, this is also possible. Select Plug&Pay confirmation page or your own URL and enter the URL of your own page. This page will then be shown to your customer after payment!

πŸ”› Activate / Inactivate page

This slider allows you to put your Checkout online and offline:

🎨 Layout

Under Layout, you can customise the design. The Template is the design of your checkout. There are several templates to choose from. So choose one that suits your needs :-)

The Theme can be changed to your own theme, or you can deviate from the set theme specifically for your checkout. This article tells you how to create a theme.

πŸ”Ž Search engine overview

The page title is the title that will be shown in Google, if you have the page indexed. Do you want your page not to be found in Google because you are sharing a promotion for a specific group of people, for example? Then you can turn off findability by checking the box next to β€˜Don't index page by search engines’.

Social media OG tags
If you share the page via social media, it helps to put a title, description, image URL and URL here. This is useful to do because some social media channels use a preview of the text and image you enter here, once you share your checkout URL.

Content

Here you can set everything that is visible on your checkout page.

πŸ“ Header

The header is the top part of your page, where you can enter your title and description or have them generated by AI.

πŸ“· Media

To show an image or video on your checkout page, you will first need to upload it to the product itself. If you have added several media, you can choose here which image/video you want to show.

⭐️ Value stack

To use the value bundle, you must first select the Stack Overflow, Back in Action or Video Sales Letter template under β€˜General’ - after this, you can enter product names and prices. This is useful when, for example, you offer multiple courses at a cheaper price.

πŸ’Έ Price triggers

When you sell a subscription or installment payment, you can enable certain types of price triggers. With price triggers, you can give a push to your favourite or best payment option.

  • Discount percentage
For annual and quarterly amounts, show the discount percentage compared to the monthly amount.

  • Monthly prices
Display annual and quarterly amounts as monthly amounts below the price.

  • Recommended payment option
Show a banner with text below a selected payment option, to steer your customer to a certain direction.

✏️ Fields

Data

The fields are data you want to request from your visitors. Name and email address are requested by default, but you can add additional fields such as address, phone number, company name and a VAT ID.

πŸ’‘Tip: Use only the fields that are really necessary to achieve higher conversion rates

Order

  • It is possible for your visitor to leave a message or comment.

  • Can your visitor purchase the product several times? Then you can check here that multiple quantities are allowed.

  • Do you have a discount code for the product? If so, you can check here that the discount code can be used. You don't have a discount code? Leave it off - this prevents your visitor from searching for a discount code!

  • If you have created a custom field for the product, you will also see it here.

Marketing emails

Once you have created the ActiveCampaing integration, you can enable the Ask permission slider. This will add an extra box to your checkout page, and allow you to register consenting visitors on a general list. Under the Integrations tab, you can add a rule to your checkout page.

πŸ’Ž USP's

Your product's Unique Selling Points (USPs) are the reasons why your visitor should buy the product. So fill them in - or have them generated by AI - so that you persuade your visitor to become your customer! Both the icon itself and the colour of the icon can be customised.

πŸŽ₯ Timed Content

When you use the Video Sales Letter template, you can focus attention on a product video. The content only becomes visible at a chosen time.

Enter the URL of your video here, which you have placed in Vidalytics, Vimeo, Wistia or YouTube. iFrames or other video software are not supported.

πŸ“„ Content

Only available in the Video Sales Letter & Stack Overflow templates. This content is displayed below the video or value bundle that appears on your checkout page.

πŸ›’ Order bump

An order bump is a relatively cheap product that people quickly buy on top. Think of the pack of chewing gum at the supermarket checkout! By adding an order bump, you can increase the average order value of your checkout.

πŸ’· Payment methods

Decide here which payment methods you want to show on your checkout page, and in what order. If you have more than four payment methods activated, choose the style of the payment methods: dropdown or list.

➑️ Checkout button

Adjust the text of the checkout button and change the microcopy items that appear below it. Eliminate the last concerns from your visitors!

πŸŽ—οΈ Testimonials

Have you ever received a nice review or message from your customer? Add it as a testimonial! Testimonials help new customers to buy your product or service.

You can also highlight the testimonial on various templates. You can do this on the Split Screen, Moneyball, Wallstreet & Video Sales Letter templates.

πŸš€ Sales boosters

This is the place to make sure your order value increases πŸš€
